Anderson played multiple positions for the Eagles, including middle and outside hitter. Anderson recorded 253 kills, 7 assists, 47 service aces, 188 digs and 48 blocks this season. “Britney was a pleasure to coach. She is a coach’s dream. She is very respectful, eagar to learn, and comes in ready to work hard everyday. She leads by example and will be dearly missed,” Coach Sports.

Keeton recorded 406 kills, had a .368 hitting percentage, recorded 35 aces, 89 digs, and 145 blocks. “It has been amazing to watch Raquelle grow over the last two years. She went from good to great and she is one of the best players on our team. Raquelle almost doubled her hitting percentage from last season to this season and has improved every aspect of her game, especially defensively. She was the go-to hitter and a huge part of our success,” Coach Sports.
Madison Davis, a freshman setter from Dixon High School, received the Most Valuable Player Award. Davis recorded 995 assists, setting a Wake Tech record for most assists in a season. Davis also recorded 64 kills, 37 aces, 25 blocks and 246 digs. “We had hitters this season and we just needed a setter to get them the ball. Maddie did that and she did it well. She knew where to go and when and I’m proud of her success this season. We wouldn’t have been as successful without her,” Coach Sports.

Eagles Defeat Flyers in Home Opener
By smsports | September 3, 2012
The women’s volleyball team hosted Sandhills Community College on Wednesday and walked away with a 3-1 win over the Flyers. The visiting team did not put up much of a fight in the first set. The Eagles flew away with a 25-12 win. However, in the second set the Flyers proved to be trouble for the Eagles and evened the score with a 15-25 upset. All tied up, the third set was a thriller. Although the Eagles were up 23-20 the Flyers came back to tie it. On the 24th point, the Eagles scored on a double called on the Flyer’s setter. The next point looked like the Flyers may tie the game on a strategically placed tip to right back but the Eagle’s libero, Kacie Peck, made a diving save that was tipped over by right side, Toi Haynes, to win the set 25-23. The fourth set was all Eagles in the 25-16 win.
Madison Davis (#4) had 37 assists and Kacie Peck (#5) recorded 18 digs in the win. Britney Anderson and Raquelle Keeton recorded 8 kills for the match.

The Eagles play their first conference match at home Thurs., Sept. 6th vs. Louisburg College at 6 p.m. On Fri., Sept. 7th conference play continues vs. Catawba Valley at 3 p.m. followed by a non-conference match against Johnston at 6 p.m.

Women’s Volleyball Awards
By smsports | May 3, 2012
After a great first season with the Wake Tech Eagles, Coach Sports was proud to announce the 2011-2012 award recipients at the First Annual Athletic Banquet. The Eagles finished with a winning record overall and in conference play. The following student athletes were honored for their accomplishments during the season.
Pictured left to right: Amanda Andrade, Adi Aman, Coach Sports and Britney Anderson.
Amanda Andrade earned the Most Improved Award. “Amanda assured me that she was worth taking a chance on and it wasn’t long before I realized she was right. She jumped right in, worked hard, handled criticism and kept going. Thank you Amanda for pushing yourself to get better all season,” said Coach Sports.
Adelaine “Adi” Aman earned the Most Valuable Player Award. Adi was previously a libero and an outside hitter. However, the Eagles needed a setter last season and although Aman had not set before she did the job well, compiling over 600 assists. “We could count on Adi’s consistency in multiple areas of play and we could not have accomplished so much without her. Thank you Adi for stepping up when we needed it and congratulations for making it through the dental program in the process!” said Coach Sports.
Britney Anderson received the Coach’s Award. Coach Sports had the following to say about Britney, “This young lady exhibits all the qualities a coach could want in a player. She is a pleasure to coach, works hard, has learned how to be a leader, and has excellent grades in the classroom. Thank you Britney for coming in everyday, ready to work hard, leaving excuses behind and always bringing a great attitude with you.”
Academic honors were also provided at the athletic banquet for students who were full-time in the fall and received a 3.7 GPA or higher. Amanda Andrade (pictured bottom left with AD Street) and Raquelle Keeton (pictured bottom right with AD Street) both received All-Academic Honors. Seven of nine volleyball players finished the season with a 3.0 GPA or higher. It is apparent that their success is not limited to the volleyball court but is also prevalent in the classroom.

Volleyball League A Success
By smsports | April 20, 2012
The women’s volleyball team went to work in March to raise funds for their program by hosting a girls’ volleyball league for high school students. The league took place on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the month. Each session began with a breakdown of each skill, followed by drills to work on those skills, and each session concluded with play.
The participants were made up of students from seven local high schools. Coach Sports was pleased with the outcome, as were the participants, and the Eagles plan to offer the program again in the future. “I want to thank everyone who participated, your involvement helps us build our program. I also want to thank everyone who helped out. There were plenty of volunteers on hand to ensure each participant was given quality instruction on an individual basis which made it a great experience for all,” said Coach Sports.
