On April 17 – 19, the men’s golf team traveled to Alexander City, Alabama to compete in the 2011 NJCAA District IV golf tournament. The tournament was held at Willow Point Country Club. On the first 18 holes of play, the team shot a score of 307 and was tied for 7th out of 12 teams. In the second 18 holes of play, the team shot 310 and finished in 11th place. On Tuesday, April 19th, the team shot a 300 and finished 10th for the tournament.
The team also competed in our Region X tournament and finished 4th out of 6 teams in that event. Hugo Alvarez qualified for the NJCAA Division 1 National Championship as an individual and finished the tournament tied for 10th place overall with a three round total of 217. Hugo was also named to the All-Tournament Team for Region X. Chase Eubanks finished with a three round total of 225 and finished tied for 29th. Daniel Soltau finished in 45th place with a three round total of 233. Chris Cox finished tied for 53rd with a three round total of 241, and Chris Freeman finished 58th with a three round total of 254.
The NJCAA Division 1 National Championship will be held May 15th – May 20th at Odessa Country Club in Odessa, Texas.
