4/20-4/21 Results: Region X Division 1 Golf Champions!

Wake Tech shot a combined score of 924. Scott Colley, Wake Tech golfer, won Medalist for the Region Championship, 2nd place in the District Championship, was named to the District V All American Team for 2009, and won Player of the Year for Region X. Wake Tech’s golf coach, Andrew Wilkinson, was also named Coach of the Year for Region X.

4/2/09 Results

On April 2nd, the Wake Tech golf team finished 2nd out of 7 in the Central Carolina Community College Invitational at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford. Wake Tech’s own Scott Colley shot the low nine holes of the day with a score of 34. The match was cut short due to rain.

Hurricane Fusillade Challenge Results

The Wake Tech Golf Team finished second on Monday, March 23rd in the two day Hurricane Fusillade Challenge hosted by Louisburg College. The tournament was held at Bull Creek Golf & Country Club in Louisburg.
Wake Tech shot a combined score of 607. Louisburg College was the winning team with a score of 595. There were a total of 10 teams competing in the event.
Coming home from the event, the golf team brought 3 awards; second place overall, second place for most points in second, and our own Scott Colley finished second place out of 51 golfers with a two day total of 145.
Other notable Wake Tech golfers include David Toune, who finished with the low round of 72 on Monday and a tie for 9th place and Matt Yost, who finished in a tie for 14th place.

March 17th Results

The Wake Tech golf team brought home win #3 on Tuesday, March 17th! The match was held at the Johnston County Country Club in Smithfield.
Wake Tech finished with a team score of 327. Louisburg College finished second with 328, and Vance Granville Community College came in third with 361. Wake Tech’s Scott Colley had the low round of the day with a score of 78.

Eagle Golfers Win Again!

Wake Tech won its second golf tournament of the year at Devil’s Ridge
Golf Club in Holly Springs yesterday. This was the Eagles first home
tournament of the season and it proved to be a good one! The Wake
Tech Spring Invitational hosted 5 other colleges from North Carolina.
Wake Tech ended with a combined score of 335, followed by Surry CC with
a score of 353, and Central Carolina CC with a score of 369. Matt Yost,
a Wake Tech member, was the low score of the day with 78. The Wake Tech
women’s team also competed for the first time. Nicolle Dodrill of Wake Tech
finished second.

Wake Tech Golfers Bring Home a Win

Team Wins First Match of Inaugural Season
RALEIGH, N.C. —
In its first match of the season, the Wake Tech Golf Team brought home a win! The match was held on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Olde Liberty Golf Course in Youngsville, NC. Wake Tech competed against Louisburg College, Chowan University, Southern Virginia University, and Johnston Community College.
Wake Tech finished with a combined team score of 319. Louisburg followed with a score of 330, Chowan University with 376, and SVU with 439. Wake Tech was lead by Scott Colley with a score of 72. Matt Yost finished with 80, Simeon Macdonald with 82, Brenton Land with 85, and David Toune with 86. Scott Colley’s score of 72 was the low score of the tournament, and all of the Wake Tech golfers finished in the top ten scoring for the tournament.
The Wake Tech golf team is coached by Andrew Wilkinson,a graduate of Wake Tech and Campbell University. In addition to his background as a coach, Wilkinson has helped organize the NCAA Division I national golf championship and tournaments for the Golf Channel and Golf Galaxy.
