INTEREST MEETING

The next interest meeting for men’s and women’s cross country will be held on Tuesday, May 7th on Main Campus in ECPE 118 at 5:00 p.m.

The Eye Opener Results

This weekend the men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, SC. Both teams finished second against regional opponents. The men’s team set new personal records on their way to finishing 25th overall with a total score of 748, while the women’s team finished with a combined score of 206. Our top finishers were Jeff Tomkinson with a 8K time of 33:05.7 and Lorreta Oguejiofor with a 5K time of 22:09.8, both new school records.

Cross Country Interest Meeting

Coach’s Award Recipient

Congratulations to John Howell for receiving the 2011-2012 Coach’s Award. Howell is a local student in the college transfer program. Howell attended nearby Clayton High School and received recognition for his contributions to the men’s cross country team. Coach Capps provides the Coach’s Award to student-athletes who display ”extra effort and outstanding leadership.”

September 30th Results

The men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to McAlpine Park in Charlotte, NC on Friday, Sept. 30 to compete in the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational. There were 44 schools participating in the event and nearly 1,500 competitors.
John Howell finished with an impressive 42:59.70 8K time. Brianne Johnson ran a 25:11.59 5K and Staci Schwenk ran a personal best 34:21.70 5K.

September 3rd Cross Country Results

On Saturday, September 3, the men’s and women’s cross country team traveled to Greensboro to compete in the 3rd Annual Guilford College Cross Country Carnival. Kasey Carter finished 2nd and John Howell 10th in the unattached men’s category. Staci Schwenk finished 9th in the unattached women’s category.
The team will travel to Charlotte on Sept. 30 to compete in the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational.
