The Eagles were up by 3 in the final seconds of the game; however, an offensive rebound by CFCC followed by a put back and foul on the play, led to a tie (78-78). In overtime, the Sea Devils pulled off the win. The following weekend, the Eagles hosted the Wake Tech Classic. The following colleges participated in the tournament: Wytheville CC, Cape Fear CC, Central Carolina CC and Wake Tech CC. Wake Tech went 1-1. Eagles Take Down Dolphins
By smsports | December 11, 2011
The Wake Tech men’s basketball team traveled to Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, NC on Saturday, December 10th. This was their second meeting this season. The Dolphins defeated the Eagles, 70-66, in their previous meeting, less than two weeks ago on the Eagles home court. However, the Eagles had a different ending in mind as they prepared for the rematch.
The Eagles trailed the Dolphins until the final seconds of the game. Brunswick’s Marcus Graham and Steve Johnson had a combined 37 points for the Dolphins but that wouldn’t be enough to hold off the Eagles. Although the Eagles were down 17 points (43-26) with 1:30 left in the first half, they found ways to work on the deficit in the second half. A 3-pointer from Andrew Bost late in the second put the Eagles within 1, with a score of 78-79. A Dolphin turnover led to the game winning shot opportunity for the Eagles. Lamont Middleton (#3) scored the winning basket to put the Eagles up 80-79 over the Dolphins. Middleton scored 25 pts. and Bost added 13 pts. in Wake Tech’s win over Brunswick. Adam Parrish also scored 12 pts. and pulled down 6 rebounds for the Eagles.
Wake Tech is back at home on Wednesday, December 14th vs. Cape Fear Community College, tip-off 7 p.m.

After Tough Losses, Eagles Win Big
By smsports | December 1, 2011
Wake Tech lost on the road to nationally ranked (#4) Sandhills, then returned home to face Brunswick. Flat play by the Eagles allowed BCC to pull off the win by a narrow margin, 70-66. On a two game losing streak, the Eagles hit the road to Greenville. Unfortunately for the Pitt Bulldogs, they were the next opponent to face an Eagles team hungry for a win. Wake Tech waited until the end of the first half to turn it on, but once they did the Bulldogs couldn’t find a way to answer. The Eagles were down 26-29 with 7 minutes left in the first half and managed to score 26 points to the Bulldogs 7 points. The Eagles went into half time up 52-36.
In the second half, the Eagles continued to outscore the Bulldogs. Wake Tech defeated Pitt 91-66 thanks to Lamont Middleton, Andrew Bost, Adam Parrish, Jarvis Anderson and Josh Cassady. Middleton scored 19 pts., Bost scored 16 pts., Anderson and Parrish scored 15 pts. each and Cassady had 12 rebounds for the Eagles.
The Eagles are now 5-4 overall but the win over Pitt puts them 2-0 in conference play. The Eagles are off for a week before they rematch Brunswick on the road, December 10th.

Eagles Defeat Nationally Ranked Storm
By smsports | November 20, 2011
On Saturday, November 19th the men’s basketball team traveled to Lexington, NC to take on Davidson County Community College (DCCC). Although this was a non-conference game it was against an undefeated opponent. The DCCC Storm also ranked #3 nationally in the DIII, NJCAA polls for the week of 11/15/11. This made the 76-75 Eagle victory even more impressive. DCCC’s record, ranking and home court advantage were not enough to hold off the Eagles. The Eagles expect this momentum to carry over into their Tuesday, November 22nd game against Sandhills CC. Tip-off is 5 p.m. in Pinehurst, NC.

Off To a Solid Start
By smsports | November 17, 2011
The Wake Tech men’s basketball team is off to a 3-2 start this season. The Eagles are led by 3 sophomores and 9 freshmen. This group of student-athletes and their coaches have earned quality wins over Central Carolina Community College, Richard Bland College and conference opponent, Johnston Community College. Their two losses came against solid competition, Sandhills and Cape Fear Community College. In both losses, the Eagles had opportunities to win down the stretch. “This early in the season, as a young team, we are trying to learn from our mistakes and learn how to have composure in tight games. I have seen this team grow tremendously in the first two weeks of the season,” said Coach Williams. The Eagles plan to build on these experiences as they prepare for their next game on November 19th against Davidson County Community College.
